This is my post for Illustration Friday: Ripple. It is also my contribution for the same Ripple at Ripple Sketches.
The whole Ripple idea is that of illustrator Kelly Light. Ripple Sketches is a way for artists to contribute work to the Gulf of Mexico relief effort.
You can read all about it here. So far, Ripple Sketches has raised over $1500.00. Pretty awesome.

So, everywhere I look lately, I see these delightful images of Pigs with Banjos. I think, “Huh, what’s the deal with all these pigs playing banjos?” My first sighting was over at Eric Barclay’s blog. Along with his Hog Williams Jr., he thanked Guy Francis and Doug Jones for the prompt. Now I see these String Pluckin’ Swines everywhere I look! Quite a thing, these banjo playin’ pigs!
Here is my pig. Chicks dig him!

You may (or may not) remember my January post, 2009: A retrospective and a look ahead . In this post, I looked back at the not-so-good things about 2009, but most importantly, I gave myself a List of Tentative Hopes for 2010.
Here they are:
Read More – Check! I’ve been reading a little more since then. Not as much as I would like to, but it’s something.
Less TV - Check! We’ve actually been watching a lot less TV these days. We’ve been making trips to the record store on the weekends and picking up a lot of old LPs. Saturday afternoons usually consist of sketching, reading, listening to good music and maybe a beer or two. Actually, we’ve been talking about canceling our cable. *thumbs up!*
Recycle more – The same as before, which is good, but could be much better.
Draw more! Check!
Eat healthier Check! I have been trying to rotate all-things-good-for-me into my diet. More salads… and fruit… and salads. Did I mention salads? I haven’t managed to lose much weight yet, but it’s all good. It’ll happen when it happens.
Quit smoking! Check! It’s actually only been 1 week today, but hey, that’s light years if you consider the addictive hold that cigarettes can have on someone. It’s actually been pretty easy this time. We made the decision 2 weeks ago. Gradually cut cigarettes out and then we were done. Mind you, at first the cravings were stronger and the days seemed oh-so-long but this is the third and final time.
So, there you have it! Now, my main goal will consist of balancing not smoking with not getting fat!

SAAAALAAADS!
P.S. So far, 2010 has been quite awesome!

Billy always wanted to be a leader, but had no understanding of how politics worked.
Things have been rather busy these days, but I always try to squeeze in a little sketching time. Last night I sketched a little cowboy and asked for name ideas. Of course, all of the names were awesome. It was hard to choose. So, I chose a middle ground. How’s Billy the Red-Booted Bandit? Work for you guys?

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while! It’s been pretty crazy around here.
I just got home and I felt like sketching, so I did.
This is my little Cowboy. I plan on developing him more… tomorrow. But what is his name? He’s gotta have a name!
