The 10th Annual RPM Memorial Golf Tournament

This weekend is the 10th Annual RPM Memorial Golf Tournament. It’s been held every year since 1999 to remember Ronnie, Pearl and Moe. Moe being my Dad. Ronnie and Pearl are his brother and sister.
In 1999, shortly after the death of Ronnie, the family decided to hold a Memorial Golf Tournament in memory of Ronnie and Pearl (d. 1997). My Dad completed the RPM after his death in 2003. It had been often said by many, that we only ever see each other at funerals. My aunts and uncles rallied together and decided to put a stop to these Funeral Reunions. So, every August in Malpeque, PEI everyone; family, extended family and friends gather together to golf, eat, drink and most importantly remember some great people.
Unfortunately, I cannot be there this weekend but I just wanted to give a shout out to everyone and share this memory of my Dad and I. More often than not, my Dad would take me golfing with him. I’d caddy for him and he’d pay me $5.
*Note – My Dad’s name wasn’t actually Moe, but William. My Dad’s family is notorious for nicknames and my Grandfather stuck my Dad with that one. Many didn’t even know his real name. He hated the name but was never able to escape it. Not even in death.

Awwww. Thats sweet.
Hey Melinda, I saw your comment on my blog so thanks for your kind words.
Great artwork by the way, very touching
This is really nice. (I can also picture a young Melinda taking a wad of $5 bills out of her pocket to buy some candy!)
haha! You’re not too far off! Dad used to pay me for everything! *Parents – remember take some notes* Dad was much more successful at getting me to do things than Mom was, because there was always $5 in it for me!
“Melinda, here’s $5. Go find my wedding ring will you? It’s underneath the car somewhere.”
“Here’s $5, Melinda. Wash the car for Dad, will ya?”
“Dad, can I have five bucks?” – “I guess so. IF you’ll do me a favor…”
I love this Melinda. William is the name of two great Dads!!
